The wait is over!
Multi-Grammy award winner Kirk Franklin has finally released his highly anticipated album, Losing My Religion!
This album is a socio-political-spiritual manifesto, that religion masks God’s love and mercy; it’s a barrier rather than a bridge. Franklin enlists a remarkable cast of singers including Deonis Cook, Candy West, Chelsea West, Crystal Aiken, and Amber Bullock.
Lead single from the 13-track album “Wanna Be Happy?” has made its home at the top of the Gospel digital charts since its release and premiere on the BET Sunday Best Gospel Show and became the best first-week, digital single in gospel sales history, selling 11,882 units in its first week. Not to mention it makes skillful use of Al Green’s “Tired of Being Alone.”
Losing My Religion is typical Franklin: a set of carefully written, arranged, and produced songs that are fantastically performed. The album also features guest appearances from some of our favorites; Kim Burrell, Tasha Cobbs, Zacardi Cortez, Lalah Hathaway, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Tamela Mann and Sarah Reeves! This couldn’t be more poignant in an era when religion (not faith) is a chosen weapon in America’s culture wars.
“I’m losing my religion, thank God/It’s my job to help you lose yours.”
